Screen Queensland presents Writing for the Screen seminar

Screen Queensland’s newly appointed Head of Development and Production, Jo Dillon, will present ‘Writing for the Screen’ for both established and emerging screen practitioners at the Cairns Tropical Writers Festival (CTWF) from 1pm this Friday 12 September at the Rydges Tradewinds Hotel in Cairns.

In her presentation, Jo will cover key pointers that every screenwriter wants to know, such as, ‘What makes a great screen story’, ‘How to turn a great story idea into a great script’, and ‘How to make a successful career as a screenwriter’.

Jo will also speak about the importance of creating strong, complex characters; the relationship between characters; the way to create meaningful and impactful dialogue; how to write a great scene; and the differences between film and television scriptwriting – with examples from a selection of movies and television shows.

This special Screen Queensland presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and a networking afternoon tea function.

Registration is FREE with the purchase of a CTWF weekend entry pass. To book your place, please go to the Cairns Tropical Writers Festival booking page.
