New Zealand's MediaWorks has appointed Charlotte McLauchlan as Group Head of Communications.

McLauchlan will oversee external communications, corporate affairs and internal communications for the Group, which includes TV3, FOUR and The Edge TV; radio brands The Edge, The Rock, More FM, The Breeze, The Sound, Mai FM, George FM, Magic, and RadioLIVE; a network of websites including 3news.co.nz and 3NOW, and a family of mobile and tablet apps.

MediaWorks Group CEO Mark Weldon says: “Relationships with clients, viewers and listeners are at the heart of our business, and the Group Head of Communications plays an important role in maintaining those relationships. Charlotte has a wealth of experience in the media and the entertainment industry, which will be a huge advantage given the increasing number of assets and opportunities we continue to launch and manage.”

McLauchlan says: "After four amazing years with Shine Australia, it is a privilege to be returning home to New Zealand to join the MediaWorks team in what is a pivotal time for the business. With brands that touch almost all New Zealanders, the role presents a fascinating and demanding challenge – I can't wait to get started."

McLauchlan has an established history of working with some of the world's most recognisable and high-profile media and entertainment brands and talent.

She joins MediaWorks from Australia’s largest content producer, Shine Australia, where she headed up the communications and publicity team and was responsible for Shine's corporate communications as well as the publicity for its broad slate of content.

Before joining Shine, McLauchlan was Publicity Manager at Channel 4 in London working with global production companies and talent to raise the profile of the Channel 4 brand and its award-winning current affairs and documentary programming.

Prior to that McLauchlan spent time at BBC News where she handled the communications around major, multi-platform news and current affairs output. She also managed the launch of Grazia magazine in the UK and has run consumer and corporate PR campaigns for other major entertainment and lifestyle brands such as Disney, BAFTA, EA Sports, Universal Pictures and PlayStation.
