Experienced UK producer and development executive Simon Shalgosky has joined Seven Studios in the new role of head of international development with the remit to create new formats and shows for international markets.

Shalgosky spent the past three and a half years at the UK’s Lion Television where as head of entertainment development he secured factual, entertainment and children’s commissions and drove a push into scripted comedy and short form.

Previously he held senior development and producer roles at Keshet UK, ITV Studios, Celador, Tiger Aspect and the BBC.

He reports to Seven Studios director of content distribution and rights Therese Hegarty who said: “We are delighted that Simon is joining the team to add momentum to our global growth. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having created and produced formats for every major UK broadcaster and delivered shows for daytime and prime time.”

He will alternate between Sydney and London, where Seven Studios UK has launched, headed by former BBC Studios executive Damon Pattison.

With production hubs in London, Los Angeles, Auckland and Sydney, Seven Studios produced more than 1,000 hours of programming in 2018, including 14 new commissions and more than 20 series returning series or in production.

In the last half of last year the production division’s revenues jumped by 20 per cent to $45.7 million and it is on track to deliver the seventh consecutive year of earnings growth.
