Son of a Lion composer joins AIM

[Press Release by Steven Godbee Publicity]

The Australian Institute of Music (AIM) announces that the newest member of its production teaching staff is one of the great unsung heroes of the Australian music industry – Amanda Brown.

Amanda brings a wealth of experience and talent to AIM where she will be teaching Songwriting.

“It is a real coup for AIM to have Amanda Brown on staff,’ says Greg White, the head of AIM’s production department. “Our students benefit enormously by working with a composer and musician of Amanda’s calibre and experience.”

Amanda was member of the iconic Aussie band The Go-Betweens who has recorded and performed with artists such as R.E.M, Sliverchair, The Vine, Josh Pyke and Toni Collette.

Over recent years Amanda has established herself as one of Australia’s leading film composers. Her score for Son of a Lion won the 2008 Inside Film award for best music for a feature film and she has received many nominations of her fine work on the films Somersault and Look Both Ways.

Amanda has also written music for TV, short films and theatre.

Amanda will soon be appearing as a special guest on RockWiz, appearing with Glenn Richards from Augie March.
