South by Southwest Film Festival Open for Submissions

Press Realese from SXSW

As Australia's decade-long representative for the South by Southwest Film Festival and Conferences (SXSW Film) in its 18th year, I'm pleased to announce that we have opened the March 9-17 2002 event in Austin Texas for film submissions, registrations and marketing strategies. Australia has built up a strong series of films through my past decade with the event and I hope that this year we get a great variety of films and film professionals attending.

SXSW Film is a top market for narrative and documentary features, shorts, experimental films and music videos but also a vital conference and trade fair. I've enclosed our SXSW Film Press Kit as a PDF which has our stats on over 300 screenings, 100+ panels and 400+ panelists. And you'll find quotes from the trades and professionals who attend.

"Though it's mellower than Sundance's feverish marketplace, cheaper and younger than a bring-your-own-yacht event like Cannes, and much less Oscar-oriented than Toronto's film festival, South by Southwest has emerged as a key event on Hollywood's calendar Š For filmmakers and studios, a major attraction of SXSW is its mixed audience – rowdy young Austinites, hard-core film fans and the early adopters who attend SXSW's influential music and interactive technology events." (Los Angeles Times, February 3, 2011).

I hope that this may be the year that you can be a part of SXSW Film by attending as one of our media guest, so please let me know. We also want to make sure that film makers are aware that SXSW Film is now open for submission from now until November 15.
