SPAA Fringe Hits The Road Pitch Competition 2011 Round One Applications are Open

SPAA is calling for unique and distinct project ideas of any genre for any of the following platforms: TV, film, mobile, tablets or online. Applications are open to all Australian residents. Single or team entries are acceptable.

If your project is short-listed, you will be invited to participate in Round One, SPAA Fringe Hits the Road Pitching Competition, to be held at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) Theatre in Sydney, Tuesday 11 October. Three finalists from here will be chosen to pitch their project at the Holding Redlich Pitching Competition held during the SPAA Conference in November.

The Holding Redlich Pitching Competition will be judged by a panel of international & local industry figures, with the winner being announced during the Conference. The winner receives a return airfare for one to the Cannes Film Festival or a TV market of their choice in 2012 and a $1500 cash prize plus free registration to SPAA Conference 2012.

Judging is based on the following criteria:

• The story, including its originality and audience potential
• The overall package, including team
• Feasibility and financing potential

Made a digital feature film in the last year? 2 weeks left to enter your films into DigiSPAA 2011. Over $40,000 in prizes to be won!

Australian and New Zealand filmmakers have only 2 weeks remaining to enter their films into 2011 DigiSPAA digital filmmaking competition. This year's winner will walk away with $15,000 cash and $20,000 worth of post-production, a guaranteed screening of the winning film on the Movie Extra Channel and a return airfare and free registration to the prestigious CineMart International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 16th September 2011. Eligible films are feature length, with a running time of at least 70mins, digitally produced and completed to advanced post-production stage no earlier than 30 August 2010, and independently funded. Download an application form.

SPAA Fringe is heading to Western Australia 6 & 7 September

SPAA Fringe will be teaming up with the SPAA TressCox Digital Masterclass to present a unique opportunity for WA filmmakers, producers and the creative industry to gain insight and knowledge for Working In A Digital Environment. By connecting with industry innovators and peers, participants will be able to develop their projects, business strategies and networks.

The event will kick off on Tuesday September 6th with a meet and greet at the Wolfe Lane Bar, and continue on Wednesday September 7th at the Subiaco Arts Centre with a program of panel discussions, roundtables and case studies. Click here for more information and to register.
