SPAAmart applications now open

Press release from SPAA

Announcing that applications are now open for the 9th Annual feature film market, SPAAmart 2011, which will take place during the SPAA Conference in November.

SPAAmart is calling for unique and distinct projects that are at an advanced stage of development and ready to present to the market for financing, sales and distribution.

SPAA first launched SPAAmart in 2003 with the aim of bringing the best Australasian feature projects to the attention of local and international financiers and over the years has seen many successes such as, Clubland, West, Noise, The Home Song Stories, Lucky Miles, Romulus, My Father, The Last Ride, Beautiful Kate, The Cedar Boys, Beneath Hill 60 and Mei Mei.

The SPAAmart Director, Julie Marlow adds, “Over the last nine years, we have built a solid reputation as the Australian financing event of the year for international distributors, sales agents and of course Australian filmmakers.

Events like SPAAmart occupy an increasingly important space as global competition for finance becomes more acute. The Producer Offset has now bedded in, and producers are aware that they have considerable equity to bring to the negotiating table, giving them a competitive advantage when married with great projects.

This year, we are attracting high profile and entrepreneurial international executives to SPAAmart to have in-depth meetings, where we will present them with the best of market-ready films.”

Entries for selection will close at 5.00pm on Friday 26th August 2011.

Guidelines and application forms are available here.
