St. Kilda film fest call for entries

Be part of AUSTRALIA’S TOP 100 SHORT FILM COMPETITON – have your music video seen in the SoundKILDA music video competition!

Have you made a short film or music video recently? Well, it’s time to get your entry in for the 2009 St Kilda Film Festival.

Haven’t finished making the film yet? Don’t worry, the St Kilda Film Festival Call for Entries is open until 30 January 2009! So get cracking!

Embarking on its 26th year this iconic event screens more Australian short film than any other festival, so make sure you don’t miss your chance to be a part of it.

St Kilda Film Festival, presented and produced by the City of Port Phillip, screens Australian short films in all genres including drama, comedy, documentary, animation and digital media. In 2009 the competition will screen the ‘Top 100’ short film entries received, and the competition is fierce! The short film competition prize pool totals over $35,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards, including a $10,000 prize for Best Short Film – the highest cash prize for short film in the country.

Other prizes include Best Director, Best Achievement in Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Indigenous Film Making, Best Comedy, Best Achievement in Sound Post and Most Positive Image of Aging. Prizes are awarded by a three person independent jury panel following initial selection into the competition by the Festival Director.

As well as the short film competition, St Kilda Film Festival features the SoundKILDA Music Video Competition, Australia’s only dedicated competition for music videos. Selected by a panel of industry specialists, prizes will be awarded in two categories: Best Music Video and Best Music Video – Animation. There will also be a special audience award presented on the night, which is fast becoming one of the Festival favourites.
