Stephen A. Carter to speak at SPAA Conference

The Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) has confirmed that Stephen A. Carter, CBE (Lord Carter of Barnes), President/Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Alcatel-Lucent, one the world’s largest telecommunications systems and solutions providers, will address delegates at the annual Conference being held 13 to 16 November at the Hilton in Sydney. He will speak on the 3 P’s of Convergence – Politics, Policy & Profit at a special afternoon plenary session on Monday 14 November at 4:00pm.

Stephen A. Carter’s business experience spans advertising, marketing and telecommunications with senior executive roles, including Chief Executive Officer of NTL, UK & Ireland (the UK’s largest cable company); J. Walter Thompson UK Limited, and the Brunswick Group LLP (marketing services business).

His previous public career included roles as Founding Chief Executive for UK media and communication regulator, Ofcom (the UK Communications Regulator), Chief of Strategy for the Prime Minister (Gordon Brown), and Minister for Communications, Technology and Broadcasting Sector. As principal adviser to the Prime Minister he was responsible for and author of the Digital Britain Report, and the follow on Digital Economy Bill.
