Sydney actor lands lead role in HBO pilot

Australian actor Lindsay Farris has landed a lead role in Alan Ball’s HBO pilot Virtuoso.

Set in the 18th century, Virtuoso follows a group of young musical prodigies from all over Europe who are enrolled at the prestigious Academy of Musical Excellence.

It is Executive produced by Alan Ball, Elton John, Peter Macdissi, David Furnish, and Steve Hamilton Shaw.

Hailing from Sydney, Farris is a classical pianist as well as an actor, and will play Heinrich, an Austrian piano prodigy.

His previous credits include The Code and Parer’s War as well as appearing on stage in Noises Off and Mojo, both for the Sydney Theatre Company.

He is also set to appear in Joseph Sims’ soon-to-be-released feature Observance, which he also co-produced.

Production on the hour-long pilot will take place this spring in Budapest.
