Sydney Indie Film Festival Director Shailla Quadra invited to Snowdance

Sydney Indie Film Festival Director Shailla Quadra.

Sydney Indie Film Festival Director Shailla Quadra will travel to Germany for the Snowdance Independent Film Festival 2016.

Quadra will participate in “Independent International”, a panel discussion with the likes of Scott Hillier (Director ECUFilm Festival, Paris), Randall Good (Slamdance Festival, USA) and Tom Bohn (Snowdance Film Festival) about the contemporary independent film scene.

“I’m humbly honoured and it’s still sinking in that so many wonderful things are happening. I’m also thrilled that I will be meeting for the first time some of the European filmmakers who couldn’t make it all the way to Sydney to attend the Sydney Indie, so it will be a great 'meeting/reunion' with many of us attending the Snowdance”, Quadra said.

The Sydney Indie Film Festival launched last year. Programmers watched 142 entries from 28 countries, and the fest screened 62 films from 20 countries over 8 days at the Bayview Hotel in Gladesville from October 17-22.

The same team is currently accepting entries via FilmFreeway for the first Melbourne Indie Film Festival, which will be held in July.

After the conclusion of the Sydney event, Quadra was contacted by Snowdance organisers who invited her to attend the January 29-31 event as a guest panelist and to present films screened in Sydney.

Two of the features from the Sydney Indie Film Festival will screen at Snowdance, which takes place at various locations around Landsberg, Germany – “Where Do We Go From Here?” by John McPhail (UK) and Australia’s own “Australiens” by Joseph Bauer (watch the trailer here).
