THE AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY PRESENTS 2014 OSCAR SHORTS PROGRAM

The Australian Film Institute (AFI) and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) are pleased to announce an exclusive presentation of the 2014 Oscar Short Film finalists in the Best Animated and Best Live Action categories.

The program will be presented to members and guests on Monday May 19, 2014 in Sydney.

The showcase is a truly international collection with work from across the globe, including Japan, Spain, France, UK, Finland, Denmark and the USA

Among them are the winners of some of the most prestigious short film festivals in the world, including the winner of Aspen Shortfest (USA), Clemont-Ferrand (France), Malaga (Spain), St Louis (USA), Grenoble (France), Leeds (UK) and Upsala (Sweden), as well as the short film winners of the Goya and César Awards. And includes films by Laurent Witz and Alexandre Espigares (MR HUBLOT), and Anders Walter and Kim Magnusson (HELIUM).
Damian Trewhella, AFI | AACTA CEO said of the presentation “We are delighted to give our members the opportunity to see ten of the finest short films made in the world last year, on the big screen, and to showcase the work of our international film making fraternity through this special presentation of the 2014 Oscar Nominated Short Films.”

The evening will be hosted by award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Ogilvie, a former winner of Tropfest, who has also had two short films accepted in competition at Cannes.

“This program of 2014 Academy Award nominated shorts represents a glimpse into the future. As the kernel of a director’s creative vision, evident in their shorts works, inevitably follows through into their subsequent long form productions." said Ogilvie.

The presentation will be held at Event Cinema, Bondi Junction from 5.30pm with complimentary canapés and discounted drinks for guests in the AACTA Bar. The 2014 Oscar Short Film program will commence at 6.15pm.
