The 2016 Dungog Festival will take place from October 27-30, 2016.

The highlight of the fest is the Australian Filmmakers' Short Film Competition, with a $30,000 prize pool.

The fest is held at the James Theatre, the oldest continually running cinema in Australia.

Filmmakers are invited to submit films that have been completed in the last 18 months, via the portal on the festival website at www.dungogfestival.com.au. Entries are open until August 31.

Also returning is Dungog's Long Table Dinner, held in the main street of Dungog, and the Long Lazy Lunch. A winemakers’ lunch has also been added to this year's schedule, featuring wine from the Hunter region with a guest chef who will be showcasing local produce.

The weekend will also include activities: "everything from yoga to sausage- making and beer brewing, arts and crafts, as well as demonstrations of cooking and black-smithing," according to a statement from the organisers.

The Dungog Festival is supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
