The Solid State receives four nominations in 2013 Golden Trailer Awards

Press release

The Solid State received 4 nominations in LA's prestigious Golden Trailer Awards, recognising the world’s best feature film marketing materials. The Sydney-based creative agency were nominated for their trailer for Love is All You Need, posters for Al Pacino’s ‘Wild Salomé’ and ‘Mabo’ as well as the trailer for The 2013 French Film Festival.

Through an open competition judged by film industry notables – which this year included Ivan Reitman and Jon Favreau – the Golden Trailer Awards recognise the creative agencies that deliver the worlds best film marketing campaigns including trailers, teasers, tvcs and posters.

The Solid State is competing in 4 categories: Best Foreign Romance [Love is All You Need – Madman Entertainment ], Best Documentary Poster [Wild Salomé – Arclight Films], Best Foreign Poster [Mabo – Blackfella Films] and Best Film Festival Trailer [The 2013 French Film Festival]

With an unbroken streak in the competition that now stretches to 18 awards in 6 years Solid State founders Danny Lachevre and Walter Bienz cited the company’s approach across all stages of production as the key factor in this latest success.

"We work closely with film makers and sales agents from a very early stage of development all the way through to when distributors are involved at theatrical release and home entertainment.  Working across the entire life cycle of a film keeps us focused on the top level messaging, creating real connections with our campaign materials. " says Lachevre

"Good filmmakers understand they have to think about their marketing right from the outset” said Bienz,  “On Al Pacino's Wilde Salomé we worked with Arclight and the producers on several key art approaches for AFM and Cannes before the film was completed.  When it came time for theatrical release a number of ideas had already been tested on audiences so we knew exactly what the poster had to do.”

"When I saw the final poster I just thought ‘wow I want to see this movie!” says Wilde Salomé producer Barry Navidi.

“We attended AFM last year and to see the sheer quantity of films competing for attention is staggering.” says Lachevre “Without great materials at presales stage a film can easily get lost in the sea of hundreds of titles and miss out of valuable overseas sales.”

“We worked with The Solid State on Mabo well before production” says Darren Dale [Blackfella Films] “They created a great press kit that began to build an identity for the film from the outset.  Later we got them to develop this further through the key art and also through the opening and closing titles. At each stage the creative just became stronger. Having one company across these elements throughout this entire process was invaluable”

Since 2007 The Solid State has become one of the world’s most successful full-service film marketing agencies consistently winning awards for all elements of their campaign work. Formed with the goal of offering producers, distributors and sales agents a single vision across the entire spectrum of campaign media, the company’s dedicated passion for film and tv continues to deliver memorable campaign materials for mainstream and independent film clients across the globe.
