The Treasure Hunter

Following the success of martial arts flick The Storm Warriors, Vendetta Films brings the Taiwanese action-adventure The Treasure Hunter to Australian audiences on January 14.

The film is directed by Yen-ping Chu (Kung Fu Dunk, The Rules of the Game, A Home Too Far) with the martial arts direction of Siu-Tung Ching (Curse of the Golden Flower, House of Flying Daggers, Hero, Shaolin Soccer).

A swashbuckling story in the style of The Mummy and Indiana Jones franchises, The Treasure Hunter stars Taiwanese heart-throb singer/songwriter, actor and composer Jay Chou.

The winner of four World Music Awards, Jay Chou's music has gained recognition throughout Asia and sold over 25 million albums worldwide. Chou entertained more than 15,000 fans in Sydney's Acer Arena at his sold-out concert in June 2009.

Jay Chou was nominated as Best Supporting Actor in the Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in Zhang Yimou's Curse of the Golden Flower (2006). Chou will also star opposite Seth Rogen in Michel Gondry's highly-anticipated superhero action film, The Green Hornet.

Playing alongside Chou in The Treasure Hunter is Taiwanese actress, singer and model Lin Chiling. One of the most recognised television hosts and models in Taiwan, Lin made her film debut in John Woo's 2008 historical epic Red Cliff.

The Treasure Hunter will be screening in selected Event, Greater Union, Village and Birch Carroll & Coyle cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
