The Trophy Thief to premiere at Seattle festival

Australian short film The Trophy Thief has been selected to screen at the Oscar-accredited Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF).

The film is written and directed by Australians in Film Entertainment Fellowship recipient Dave Edwardz and stars Sydney talent Isaac Natoli, Kate Skinner and Ben Wood.

The coming-of-age tale follows Ben, a young soccer player who believes that winning his team's MVP trophy will solve his family’s problems. Delicately crafted by a world-class crew, The Trophy Thief is a charming, poetic piece of cinema that captures a child’s first glimpse into adult life where the innocent façade of playtime morphs into a harsher social reality.

The 41st annual Seattle International Film Festival runs from May 14 to June 7. The Trophy Thief will have its world premiere at 12:30pm on May 25 in the “Growing Pains” section of the festival.

The film has been supported by Screen Australia’s Talent Escalator program.
