Toronto programmer heads to Adelaide

[press release from MB Publicity]

Jane Schoettle, programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival is in Adelaide this week as a guest of the 2009 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival, conducting script advisory workshops and offering invaluable advice to local filmmakers working on several Screen Australia and South Australian Film Corporation projects, and helping the filmmaking teams take their scripts to the next level.

She will also view a number of Australian films screening as part of BAFF’s program.

In addition to the Screen Australia and SAFC supported projects, Schoettle will workshop WRITING RAIN, the winning script from InSite, the biennial unproduced screenplay competition run by BAFF and the Australian Writers’ Guild.

Screen Australia is hosting Jane’s visit to Australia.

The scripts being workshopped are:

END OF ANXIETY by Marty Murphy (writer/director) and Ian Iveson (producer);

COLD CALLER by Shane McNeil (writer/director) and Kristian Moliere (producer) . Kristian is also producer of LUCKY COUNTRY which will have its world premiere at the 2009 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival on Saturday 28 February.

SUNBURNT HEROES by Wayne Groom (producer) and Kenneth Ross (writer);

JEWEL by Murali K. Thalluri (director, co-writer, producer) and Nick Selth (co-writer, producer);

THE WIFE OF BEDLAM by Mark Patterson (producer) and Sean Riley (writer/director);

WRITING RAIN by Ben Chessell (writer/director) and Louise Smith (producer), the story of a writers’ group thrown into turmoil by the arrival of a successful newcomer.

BAFF Festival Director, Katrina Sedgwick says, ‘Not only will Jane bring invaluable advice to a number of local teams with scripts in development – and to our InSite winner – but to have Jane here on behalf of Toronto along with other international festival programmers greatly enhances the benefits for Australian filmmakers in screening their film in Adelaide’s festival program.’
