Press release from Tropfest

Lights Camera Action! Time to get the tape rolling with the 2010 Movie Extra Tropfest deadline – 7 January 2010 – fast approaching and only one month away!

All short films submitted must be no longer than seven minutes in length and must include the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), to show the film was made specifically for the 2010 festival. The TSI for 2010 is ‘DICE’

Following the entry deadline, a panel of industry representatives will view each film to select an initial shortlist. Director and Founder John Polson will then select a finalist line up of 16 films.

These 16 films will be screened in front of a live audience of over 150,000 people at the Movie Extra Tropfest festival, hosted by Adam Spencer on Sunday 21 February 2010, and via live television broadcast on the Movie Extra channel, part of Movie Network Channels. The 2010 Movie Extra Tropfest winner will be announced on the night of the festival.

Movie Extra Tropfest receives hundreds of short film entries from across Australia and abroad and the finalists are given the largest ‘premiere’ night a short film can receive anywhere in the world! In addition, the Movie Extra live broadcast hosted by Adam Hills and Alan Brough will continue to reach a television audience in excess of 300,000, extending the viewer audience base. Budding filmmakers are encouraged not to delay on entering this vibrant film festival and missing out on the opportunity to see their name in lights!
