Tropfest returns to SBS 2

Tropfest 2014 will screen on SBS 2 on Sunday December 7 and will be streamed worldwide by SBS Online.

Tropfest aficionado Adam Spencer and The Feed and Movie Mayhem’s Marc Fennell return as the hosts joined by The Feed's  reporter Jeannette Francis.

‘Mirror’ is this year's Tropfest signature item. SBS 2 will showcase the 16 finalist films as well as exclusive interviews with celebrity and industry judges and filmmakers.

SBS Online will live stream the broadcast at sbs.com.au/tropfest, making Tropfest available everywhere in the world.

Since its creation by John Polson at  a café in Darlinghurst 22 years ago, Tropfest has evolved to become a feature on the national event calendar.

Each year it attracts huge crowds in Sydney as well as hosting live screenings in Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart, Adelaide and Surfers Paradise.

More than 600 aspiring filmmakers have entered their short films for Tropfest 2014 and the 16 finalists will be announced next week.

Many prominent actors and directors got their start by making or starring in a short for Tropfest. Notable alumni include Sam Worthington, who won best actor in a 2001 short, Joel and Nash Edgerton and Clayton Jacobson (Kenny, Animal Kingdom).
