TV show to spotlight mobile vets

Producer Suzanne Ryan will pitch a pilot of an observational documentary which looks at a Sydney veterinary clinic run by twin sisters to broadcasters at this month’s MIP Junior and MIPCOM markets.

Aussie Mobile Vet will follow 32-year-old Doctors Audrey and Alison Shen as they juggle their lives as vets, wives, mothers and business owners.

It’s the first observational doc from Ryan’s SLR Productions, best known for children’s animated properties such as The Skinner Boys and Guess How Much I Love You and action comedy drama Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures.

Ryan, who created the show, tells IF she envisions a series of 39 half-hour episodes if it’s commissioned by Australian and international broadcasters.

The series will follow the vets on the road in their Aussie Mobile Vet van and at their clinic, the Happy Tails Veterinary Hospital, as they experience the highs and lows ranging from pet emergencies to everyday animal care.

Ryan said, “SLR Productions has a long and rich history of creating exceptional characters and stories in its programs for children and families so I am delighted to be adding this character-based observational documentary to our programming portfolio.

“Dr Alison and Dr Audrey Shen’s dedication, infectious enthusiasm and love for animals, great and small, will make Aussie Mobile Vet a compelling and entertaining television series."
