TVNZ buys streaming rights to Hitstroke FM

New Zealand broadcaster TVNZ has bought the streaming rights for the first series of Hitstroke FM.

The Australian series will be shown as part of TVNZ's new online shortform offering OD Shorts.

The Humdrum Comedy production will premiere on the free digital (AVOD) platform TVNZ OnDemand on March 1, following the YouTube launch on January 20 for Australia.

The show follows the lives of two millenial radio DJs, Cas and Mattie, and their producer, Phil, as they attempt to keep what is possibly Australia's worst radio station running.

TVNZ digital media programmer, Jordan Yee, said Hitstroke FM was a hilarious, rude and surreal series aimed at the digital generation.

"Hitstroke FM is a great addition to our successful OD Shorts lineup," he said.

"This our first Aussie purchase for OD Shorts and we think our audience will love it alongside our existing material."
