Victorian Government unveils new arts funding program

Arts and cultural organisations across Victoria will be able to apply for four-year goverment grants under a new investment program.

The next round of Creative Victoria’s Organisations Investment Program will offer a four-year investment from government from 2017-2020.

Funding from $60,000 per year is available to not-for-profit, legally constituted organisations that deliver professional arts, cultural or sector development programs in Victoria.

Applicants need to demonstrate a significant track record in the delivery of programs and services that are of critical value to Victoria’s creative and cultural industries, as well as a commitment to grow, renew or sustain their operational capacity.

The 2017-2020 round of the Organisations Investment Program will open for applications in March 2016.

Victorian creative industries minister, Martin Foley, said independent arts organisations were at the heart of Victoria’s thriving arts and cultural sector and our reputation as a creative state.”

“They provide important employment opportunities for artists and other industry professionals, and a wide range of cultural and creative experiences for Victorians," he said.

“The funding aims to provide a stable base from which Victorian organisations can plan, create and present work, take risks, leverage support from other sources, generate income and, ultimately, make an economic, social and cultural contribution to their community and the state.”
