Village Cinemas launches Australia’s first mobile movie ticketing system

Movie-goers have today been offered a more convenient way to see their favourite films, as Village Cinemas launches an Australian-first mobile movie ticketing system. Customers can now purchase tickets on their smart phones and scan in a unique barcode on their phone for direct access into the cinema, without any need to visit the box office.

The new ‘Village Mobile’ website will give film fans a faster and easier way to visit the cinema, and has been launched just in time for some of this year’s biggest blockbuster film releases including Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Cars 2 and the final instalment of Harry Potter.

Tickets can be purchased via the user-friendly mobile site (m.villagecinemas.com.au) – a simplified version of the Village Cinemas website. Once the transaction is complete, customers will receive a unique ‘QR code’ on their phones which is scanned at the usher-point entry to the cinemas. Customers will be automatically allocated the best available seats, and a Village staff member will be available at the usher-point to assist with
any queries and check IDs where necessary.

CEO of Village Cinemas, Kirk Edwards said the company was proud be launching this Australian-first service for patrons, “Customers nowadays are always on the lookout for faster, more convenient solutions across all areas of their lives, so we’re confident this new service from Village will be very well received.

“The Village Mobile ticketing function will allow our customers a more direct route to see their favourite films, making a trip to a Village Cinemas a smoother, more enjoyable experience. Now it’s simply a matter of buying your tickets, visiting the candy bar and heading straight to the cinema,” he said.

“We think this new offering from Village will be particularly popular with the 15 – 35 age group, and will change the way Australians visit the cinema.”

Promotional staff will be on hand at Village Cinemas during the launch period demonstrating how to use the new service.

Detailed Instructions for Using Village Mobile Ticketing:

1. Visit the mobile website and select your state and cinema. Scroll through the movies, and click on the film you want to see. Select the day and session time you wish to attend, then the type of tickets you require.

(Please note: Student and Senior tickets require ID as you enter the cinema)

2. Enter your credit card details, and select Purchase. Your ticket is delivered to your phone instantly. A ticket and barcode will also be sent to your nominated email address.

3. Scan your phone as you enter the cinema.
