Wally Pfister wins ACS acclaim for Inception

The Australian Cinematographers Society President, Ron Johanson ACS announced in Sydney today that renowned cinematographer, Wally Pfister ASC is the recipient of the 2011 ACS International Cinematographer of the Year Award, for his work the outstanding and truly innovative work on Christopher Nolan's film, Inception.

Mr. Pfister's is an Academy Award winning American cinematographer, who is best known for his work on Christopher Nolan's films, including Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Inception. Pfister is also known for his work on director F. Gary Gray's The Italian Job.

The ACS International Award for Cinematography is an acknowledgement by Australian society members of excellence in cinematography. The award is open to any feature film cinematographer, of any nationality, working on the international stage. Previous recipients have been: Dion Beebe ACS ASC; Emmanuel Lubezki AMC ASC; Roger Deakins BSC ASC; Anthony Dod Mantle DFF BSC and Robert Richardson ASC.

The International Award for Cinematography will be presented at the ACS National Awards for Cinematography in Adelaide, South Australia on Saturday, April 30, 2011. These awards are dedicated to the memory of John Bowring ACS who recently passed away.
