Another short from Tango Underpants duo

Cottesloe Films is delighted to announce that three exceptional Australian actors – Trilby Glover, Andrew McFarlane and Ben Mortley – are attached to star in the upcoming short film Library of Love.

The film’s crowdfunding campaign launches at 10am today through Pozible – the same time as the online premiere of the team’s multi award-winning short film, Tango Underpants launches on YouTube.

Library of Love is a musical romantic comedy written and co-directed by Miranda Edmonds and Khrob Edmonds. It tells the story of Isabelle (Glover) – a librarian and hopeless romantic, who spends her days reading romance novels and dreaming of true love. But can she can pull her nose out of the books long enough to find love in the real world?

According to the directors, Library of Love represents an exciting opportunity to once again work with some of their favourite collaborators.

“Trilby was in our very first film and many of the wonderful crew who we worked with on Tango Underpants and our Tim Winton short, have signed on for this next adventure,” said Khrob.

A seasoned actor, Glover is best known for her work in the Emmy-nominated miniseries The Starter Wife (with Debra Messing), Crash (with Dennis Hopper) and the feature film RIGHTEOUS KILL, alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. She will be returning to her hometown of Perth to play the lead role.

McFarlane is one of Australia's hardest working actors. He is well known for his roles in The Flying Doctors, The Sullivans, Division 4 and Patrol Boat, and more recently A Place to Call Home, Devil's Playground, The Alice, Neighbours, Underbelly, Janet King, Love Child and Play School to name only a few. Earlier this year, McFarlane was nominated for an AACTA Award (Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama or Mini Series) for Devil's Playground and won the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Award (Most Outstanding Performance in a TV Drama) for the same role. McFarlane will star as The Duke – the one who inspires Isabelle to look beyond the library for love.

Mortley is best known for iconic Australian films Lantan, Dingo and Drift; however it was his Lothario role in McLeod’s Daughters that earned him a Logie Award nomination. Most recently, he received numerous awards and nominations for 'Those Who Fall in Love Like Anchors Dropped Upon the Ocean Floor'. He will play The Duke’s son and Isabelle’s potential love-interest.

Library of Love is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia through MATCH. As a federally-funded matched funding program, MATCH will double every dollar raised up to $10,000 – a concept that proved highly beneficial for the team’s previous project. Tango Underpants was funded by ScreenWest’s 3-to-1 initiative following a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign that saw the team raise over $100,000.

Tango Underpants (14mins, 2014) stars Logie nominated and AFI award winning actress, Emma Booth (Clubland, Parker, Underbelly). It was adapted for screen by John Collee (Happy Feet, Master and Commander, produced by Tania Chambers (Kill Me Three Times) and Stephen Van Mil, and shot entirely in Argentina by award-winning cinematographer Denson Baker (The Dark Horse, Oranges and Sunshine). The music was composed by Guy Gross (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert) and Aurelio Costarella designed the Tango Dress, which was later showcased at the WA Museum.

After receiving numerous accolades and awards on the international film festival circuit, Tango Underpants was nominated for four WA Screen Academy Awards in 2014, winning Best Script – Short Form. Last week it won Audience Award For Best Sexy Film at the BeFilm The Underground Film Festival in New York, and was selected to screen at the upcoming 2015 Cannes Film Festival, as part of the Cinephile program.

Tango Underpants has been sold to Qantas, SBS Television, KQED San Francisco and Pacific Voice Japan – testament to the team’s dedication and professionalism.

Library of Love will to be shot entirely in Western Australia, with writer/directors Miranda Edmonds and Khrob Edmonds at the helm. It will be produced by Estelle Buzzard (The Lifeguard, Missing Pieces), Maya Kavanagh and Meg McPherson.
