Australia’s first fully inclusive film company calling for support

Press Release from Arts Access Victoria

Arts Access Victoria is calling on all supporters to vote for filmmaker Genevieve Clay and help realise a long held dream for the arts and disability sector – a dedicated film production company that can build and showcase the talents of filmmakers with a disability.

A film production company where people with a disability have key roles in all aspects of film production, including script development, directing, camera operation, sound recording, acting, art direction, editing, promotion and distribution? I’d support that…!!

Genevieve is in the running for Vodaphone Australia’s World of Difference program. With your vote, she could win a grant to establish Australia’s first fully inclusive film production company, Bus Stop Films.

About Genevieve

Genevieve is passionate about filmmaking and the rights of people with a disability to fulfil their creative potential in the Australian film industry. Her recent film Be My Brother won Best Actor (Gerard O’Dwyer) at Tropfest 09, Best Script at the Bondi Short Film Festival, Most Inspirational Film at the International Heart of Gold Film Festival, Best Film at the Dereel Film Festival’s, and has been nominated for a prestigious IF Award. The success of this film demonstrates that people with a disability can fulfil meaningful roles on a film set, and work to create something that is excellent.

“Through the World of Difference Program, my goal is to produce a unique, powerful film with high production values where the full creative ownership belongs to people with a disability.”

Through The Bus Stops Here project, Genevieve will work closely with emerging actors and filmmakers with a disability, particularly people with an intellectual or learning disability to develop an ambitious national filmmaking project. The project will give actors and filmmakers with a disability the opportunity to develop a range of professional skills in film production through direct teaching, mentoring and providing hands on experience in a real production environment.

A vote for Genevieve is a vote for Australia's first fully inclusive film production company!
