Bio Channel commissions Aus version of I Survived series

Press release from Foxtel

FOXTEL's Bio. Channel today announced it has commissioned the Australian version of the hugely popular and compelling U.S documentary series, I Survived.

Due to air in early 2012, the 8 part local series will profile the extraordinary stories of every day Australians who have overcome unbelievable and traumatic circumstances – with each person offering their own insight into the event that has now changed their life forever.

Produced by Graham McNiece Productions, the creators of the hit CI Network series Crime Investigation Australia, I Survived…Stories of Australians will feature survivors of events including the Boxing Day tsunami, the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, the recent Queensland floods, the London and Bali bombings, the Port Arthur Massacre and the fateful Sydney to Hobart Yacht race in 1998.

Bio Channel Manager, Paul Myers, said: “I Survived…Stories of Australians is a marquee program for the Bio Channel in 2012, and we are confident it will resonate well with our viewers. The international success of the franchise is due to the openness, honesty and emotion of the interviewees and the candour and bravery we’ve witnessed from our Australian participants has been no different. It’s captivating TV.”

I Survived…Stories of Australians is storytelling at its most intimate, most raw and most honest. It will exclusively premiere on FOXTEL’s Bio. Channel in early 2012.
