Blue Zoo casting for rookie marine adventurers for new TV series

Blue Zoo the ULTIMATE MARINE WILDLIFE Adventure Documentary Series, which will begin filming in Australia in October, is looking for 14 – 16 year olds who are motivated to make the world a better place, who love to be challenged and be part of a team and have a genuine interest in conservation. Applications from 13 year olds turning 14 in 2013 will be accepted.

Blue Zoo is a 13-part observational documentary series to be be produced by Air Pig Productions, David Atkins Enterprises, ABC 3 Australia and RTE Young Peoples, Ireland. Producers for Air Pig are Sally Browning and Dean Cropp and for DAE, David Atkins.
“Over seven weeks filming in New South Wales, Blue Zoo will see Australian and Irish teens work and train together at a marine wildlife park with dolphins, seals and turtles who have been rescued and rehabilitated or born into human care at the park,” Sally said.

“We’re looking for eight remarkable Rookies – four from Australia and four from Ireland – who will take over key roles in a marine animal to have the adventure of a lifetime. The series will focus on these remarkable young adults who will hone their communication, science, creative and team-building skills under the supervision and guidance of marine experts.”

The Marine 8 Rookies will be fully supervised by chaperones whilst in the care of the production and come under the guidance of the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian’s rules for working with young people. All personnel involved in Blue Zoo have verified Working With Children Background checks. A Child Privacy Protection Policy & Procedures document is on the website and a more comprehensive booklet will be available to the parents of the successful Rookies. The participants’ travel, accommodation and living expenses will be paid for by the production.
Blue Zoo is the first production by Air Pig, the company established by Sally and Dean, following Sally’s return to the production industry after senior roles at both the NSW Film and Television Office (now Screen NSW) and Screen Australia. This first production is a collaboration with the global theatre and international event company, DAE.
