BO Report: Bourne beats up Kirk, André Rieu comes in third

The further adventures of Jason Bourne won the weekend at the box office, premiering on 282 screens and ringing up $7.6 million.

A long way behind was Star Trek Beyond, which made $1.7 million over its second weekend, dropping 56 percent to bring its cume to $6.9 million overall.

Next best was something a little bit different: André Rieu's 2016 Maastricht Concert Movie bowed at 119 locations ($11,309 avg/loc, the best in the top ten outside of Bourne) and rang up close to $1.4 million, beating out the likes of Ghostbusters over the weekend. 

The Ghostbusters reboot dropped 46 percent in its third week for weekend takings of $1.3 million. The Melissa McCarthy-Kristen Wiig starrer has now made $10.4 million.

Coming in at fifth was Lights Out, produced by Australian James Wan and starring his compatriot Teresa Palmer. 

Off the the back of a strong showing at the American box office, the horror film has now made $2.2 million after two weeks on 175 screens, dropping only 27 percent over the weekend to bring in $809,934.

The Legend of Tarzan is now sitting on $11.3 million after four weeks, while Disney/Pixar's Finding Dory has made $47.4 million after seven.

The same studio's The BFG has been less successful. Spielberg's adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic is still on 250 screens after five weeks, for total takings of $14.3 million.

Fox comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates has pulled in $6.4 million after four weeks. Targeting a similar demo, Uni's Central Intelligence made roughly the same over the weekend ($365,158 to Mike's $372,899).

Starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, Central Intelligence has now rung up $15 million after five weeks.

Just outside the top ten was Love & Friendship, Transmission's Austen adaptation starring Xavier Samuel, which has just passed the $1 million mark after two weeks on 87 screens.

Tranmission's other release, Ivan Sen's Goldstone, has made $583,179 after four weeks, while Madman's Hunt for the Wilderpeople dropped 30 percent over the weekend to bring its OT to $10.2 million after 10 weeks.
