Bond alumnus wins at international film festival

Press release from Bond University

Bond University alumnus Dominic Chambers’ film 'No Man’s Land' is the only Australian film to secure a win in the ‘top rated’ category at the international Filminute film festival.

The recent Bachelor of Film and Television graduate entered his one minute film into the global competition and was selected as one of only two Australian finalists from a pool of more than 2000 entries.

Mr Chambers’ film features a man who speaks about life and its hurdles before an unexpected ending. Mr Chambers sourced the actor, Mirko Grillini, after seeing his performance in another short film festival and was commended on the choice of actor.

Filminute Head of Jury and Co-executive director, John Ketchum praised his success explaining he achieved a festival first.

“For the first time in the festival’s history a film has scored an average of five stars, underscoring one of the most powerful acting performances in a one-minute film we’ve ever seen,” said Mr Ketchum.

Dominic attributed his success at the competition to the personalised teaching he received during his time at Bond University’s School of Film and Television.

"I owe this success to the marvelous support and teaching given to me whilst at Bond,” said Mr Chambers.

FILMINUTE is the international one-minute film festival that challenges filmmakers, writers, animators, artists, designers, and creative producers to develop and submit the world's best one-minute films. Filminute's international jury awards the ‘Best Minute’ and five commendations. Audiences worldwide rate the films and vote for the People's Choice.
