Flickerfest dons the Union Jacks and hits London town with a fresh cargo of Aussie shorts designed to delight and surprise UK audiences with the amazing talent down-under has to offer.

Screening in sold out sessions at the famous Barbican alongside new Australian feature films such as Sampson and Delilah, Accidents Happen, The Waiting City and Cedar Boys are highlights from the Flickerfest 2010 Competition, including Oscar nominated Miracle Fish, and the UK premiere of Young Love which premiered at Flickerfest before receiving a special mention at Sundance this year.

Screening with Ana Kokkinos’s Blessed is multiple Flickerfest award-winner Tomorrow directed by Simon Portus, and introducing Andrew Lancaster’s feature film Accidents Happen is the winner of the Madman Award for best Australian Film at Flickerfest 2010 Celestial Avenue from Colin & Cameron Cairnes. Ralph directed by much loved Australian actress Deborah Mailman introduces Rachel Perkins’s indigenous musical smash–hit Bran Nue Dae.

Flickerfest is delighted to share this wealth of Australian talent with our friends across the sea, proud to be promoting our great Australian film making talent on a global scale – curating this tailored programme of the best Australian shorts from this year’s festival as companion pieces to accompany and introduce the freshest Australian feature films selected for the London Australia Film Festival, 2010.

Flickerfest is Australia’s premier short film competition and the only one with Academy® accreditation– screening only the most innovative and creative short films under the summer starry skies at Bondi Beach, before embarking on a 25 Venue National Tour across Australia.

For 2010, Flickerfest received over 1600 entries from around the world. The successful films which screened at Flickerfest this January are all united by their excellence in the short film genre and represent the freshest trends in global cinema.
