Goalpost Pictures opens in time for Cannes

Rosemary Blight, Ben Grant, Kylie du Fresne and Cass O’Connor, the founding partners in RB Films, have announced the establishment of their new independent drama production company Goalpost Pictures Australia just in time for Cannes.
 
Goalpost Pictures Australia has a mutual shareholding with the international sales company Goalpost Film in the UK run by well-known sales agent and Executive Producers Tristan Whalley and Nicki Parffit, and will continue to work with a range of domestic and international partners to produce film and television drama projects for the domestic and international markets.
The current Goalpost Pictures Australia slate includes the feature film Elise, starring Natalie Imbruglia, which will be represented by Goalpost Film at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival; Julien Temple’s dynamic opera film The Eternity Man, and the development of the second series of the acclaimed television drama Lockie Leonard
“Goalpost Pictures is dedicated to producing the highest quality of work – work that will engage with audiences worldwide. We are interested in compelling stories and visionary talent,” said Rosemary Blight.
“We are thrilled to consolidate our relationship with Tristan, Nicki and Goalpost Film, with whom we have worked so closely and successfully in the past. We have a strong relationship based on the appreciation of distinct, independent film and respect for the talent who delivers it.”
 
Tristan Whalley said: “We are delighted to be strengthening our relationship with Rosemary and the team. It feels like a good time to be advancing our production capabilities and linkages within Australia and beyond.”
The company currently has projects in development with some of Australia’s hottest directing and writing talent, including Wayne Blair, Cherie Nowlan, Keith Thompson, Josh Wakely and Tony Tilse.
The partners of Goalpost Pictures have between them had films screened at major international festivals including Berlin, Sundance and Toronto.
 
They have also received BAFTA, AFI, Crystal Bear and Logies awards and nominations for film and television programs including Clubland, Lockie Leonard, The Djarn Djarns, In The Winter Dark and Stepfather of the BrideLockie Leonard won this year’s Logie Award for Most Outstanding Children’s series.
RB Films has been part of the Essential Viewing Group for the past four years. However it will cease this branding with the formation of Goalpost Pictures.
