IF Awards scores long time U2 collaborator

The Inside Film Awards are excited to welcome creative design, concert director and staging guru Bruce Ramus to the 2008 Awards team as Creative Designer.

Canadian born Ramus is a long time collaborator with U2, having been responsible for the staging and lighting design on their world tours – ‘Vertigo’ (2005-6), ‘Elevation’ (2001), ‘Popmart’ (1997-98) and ‘Zoo TV’ (1993-94). He has also worked with Queen, lighting the ‘We Will Rock You’ (2002-4) world theatre productions and REM on their ‘Up’ (1999) and ‘Monster’ (1995) world tours.

Ramus’s creative design career began in the late 1970s working with music legends including David Bowie, James Brown and Tammy Wynette. He comes to Australia with almost 30 years experience, where his role at the Inside Film Awards will see him design the broadcast room, staging design and lighting for the live broadcast.

“Bruce brings a wealth of incredible experience to our awards and it’s a real coup to have him attached to the Inside Film Awards this year. It will definitely make the 10th year a very special event indeed,” said IF Awards General Manager and Producer Clare Sawyer.

“I’m excited by the freedom and creative spirit celebrated by the IF Awards. I’ve always viewed good films as illuminative, and I look forward to approaching this event from that perspective,” said Bruce Ramus.

The Inside Film Awards are the people’s choice awards for Australian films. The awards were created in 1999 to honour excellence in filmmaking and in 2008 celebrate their 10th year.

On November 13 2008, luminaries of the Australian film industry will gather on the Gold Coast for this celebration of Australian cinema. 21 awards will be presented in a fast-paced, jam-packed 90 minute ceremony which is broadcast live on SBS TV and then later on Showtime.
