Kids TV At SPAA Conference

SPAA announced today the guest speaker line-up for Kids TV at this year’s Conference to be held 12 to 14 November at the Sheraton Mirage Resort on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Day 1 of the Conference, Wednesday 12 November, will focus on local and international children’s television. SPAA has invited an impressive group of the world’s top Kids TV executives to speak at the Conference with the view of forming new partnerships and business opportunities in Australia.

International guests include: Francois Depanck, Head of Children’s Programmes and Channels at France’s Canal Plus; Eric Garnet, CEO of Go-N Productions France, a partnership formed by Japan’s GDH in 2004 to create French and European animation for children and develop business opportunities for the two companies; Steven DeNure, President, Decode, a rapidly growing Canadian entertainment company producing and distributing programming for young audiences around the world, and three-time Emmy-award winning Bill Schultz, Co-CEO of Taffy Entertainment/Mike Young Productions, the most prolific independent animation studio in Hollywood today and CEO of Kabillion, the multi-platform kids’ entertainment services. Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming, Jetix Europe; Nina Hahn, Head of Development, Nickelodeon International, and Lenora Hume, EVP, Head of Development and Production, HIT Entertainment, UK will also join the international line-up.

The VIPs will take part in roundtable events and sessions to include: Broadcasters – New Content in Children’s Television; Forging New Partnerships in Kids TV – Up Close and Personal with France, and Hot Topic Debate – Exploit Your Kids Program Every Way You Can.

Australian children’s television broadcasters and executives will also participate including: Tim Brook-Hunt, Carla De Jong, and Barbara Uecker of ABC Children’s TV; Jo Rooney, Network Drama Executive, Network Nine; Cherrie Bottger, Head of Children’s TV, Network Ten; Deirdre Brennan, Director of Programming, Nickelodeon, and Anthony Danna, Programming Director of Disney.

Day 2 of the Conference, Thursday 13 November, a 30-minute session titled, International Kids POW WOW, will allow delegates to meet the Kids TV players and find out what they are looking for.

Nickelodeon’s Land A Pilot finalists will get their chance to pitch at a special afternoon session with the winner to be announced on the day.
