Bolderpictures is proud to announce that it has signed a theatrical agreement with Luna Palace Cinemas to screen its debut feature film, Little Sparrows.

Directed and produced by Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen, the exclusive season will open at Cinema Paradiso with a red carpet premiere on Thursday 5 May.

Luna Palace Cinemas’ managing director Ingrid Van Den Berghe has welcomed the release.

“We are delighted that we have been given the opportunity to show Perth audiences Camille’s very touching and moving drama, Little Sparrows.”

“We encourage everyone to come along to see it and help support one of Perth’s very talented filmmakers, as well as the many truly gifted actors that help make this film special,” said Van Den Berghe.

Little Sparrows has screened in cinemas around the world receiving rave reviews in international media, rapturous applause on the festival circuit and lengthy standing ovations at its international premiere in Rome.

According to Chen, there is no better way to experience the film than in the cinema

“We are so excited to finally be able to show the film in its home town.”

“Little Sparrows is an independently-funded, small scale drama which has garnered considerable accolades and screened at prestigious international film festivals, including the primaries in Rome and Palm Springs."

“We are very proud that it is 100 per cent Western Australian made and we appreciate the support we have received from Luna Palace Cinemas.”

“Following our recent win at the WA Screen Awards, we believe Little Sparrows’ strong story and great artistry will attract audiences and encourage strong word-of-mouth referrals,” said Chen.

In addition to its WASA win, Little Sparrows won the 2010 DigiSPAA SPAARTAN AWARD for Best Digital Feature Film, and was nominated for Inside Film’s prestigious Independent Spirit IF Award.

“Little Sparrows was made with a clear independent vision and audacity to maintain an integral auteur voice. Our journey with the film continues,” said Chen.

The theatrical release has engaged various promotional partners and will be offering two-for-one tickets for all Mother’s Day screenings (Sunday 8 May), and hosting a special fundraising screening in conjunction with the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Friday 3 June.
