New film ad agency launches

Press release from Simon de Bruyn

After executing marketing campaigns for “The Combination”, “Cedar Boys” and “Acolytes”, boutique advertising agency DLSHS has launched a dedicated full-service film division to help producers and distributors deliver cutting edge campaigns to help Australian films reach the audiences they deserve.

To mark its launch, DLSHS FILM has pledged its support as the Major Sponsor of the inaugural Australian Film Festival, which runs from February 24 to March 7 in Sydney.

Founded by Valeria Petrenko and Ahmed Salama, DLSHS (pronounced Delicious) brings more than ten years experience working together on branding and marketing across a range of other sectors, including music, fashion, retail, government and consumer goods.

DLSHS FILM Creative Director Ahmed Salama says the agency will bring Australian producers unprecedented advertising and marketing techniques typically employed by big ad agencies and major brands, and provide a full spectrum of film marketing services.

DLSHS FILM will also offer unprecedented media buying power to the Australian film industry, allowing independent film makers to compete against bigger releases, whilst adding value to large campaign releases.

“Independent Australian producers are becoming more attuned than ever to the marketing and advertising process and know that it’s not enough to only have a great product. We will empower producers to achieve new levels of market penetration by providing access to cutting ege creative and media buying power,” Salama explains.

The marketing of Australian films has come into focus in recent years in the wake of increased competition played out in a complex and shifting distribution landscape. DLSHS FILM is constantly evolving its cutting edge techniques to meet the changing needs of audiences.

Having released the top Australian viral video in the world, “Free Hugs campaign” and the critically acclaimed viral trailer for “The Combination,” DLSHS FILM offers unique marketing strategies which are geared at reaching the right target audiences.

“DLSHS FILM is a fierce supporter of Australian cinema and we are excited about empowering Australian films to win the audiences they deserve. Through clever, competitive integrated marketing strategies that speak directly to target audiences, we aim to level the playing field for Australian films,” DLSHS FILM Director Valeria Petrenko says.

DLSHS FILM will continue its partnership with the Australian Film Festival throughout 2010-2011, working on a range of release campaigns for several of the selected films through its strategic partnership with Peter Castaldi’s revolutionary Australian film distribution company, Pack Screen.
