SBS Comedy, the new online comedy destination, has announced its first commissioned comedy video series, SBS Does Game of Thrones.
SBS Does Game of Thrones features five sketches that parody some of the key moments from the cult TV series. It is produced by comedian Dan Illic and Motion Picture Company, and is directed by Andrew Garrick, head writer and director of Micro Nation; with assistance from Michael Hing, one of Australia’s best up and coming stand-up comics.
The sketches are written and performed by emerging Sydney comedians from Project 52 and sketch show Make Way for Ducklings, which won Timeouts Best Comedy Night in 2011. The sketches were originally performed in the Make Way for Winter comedy sketch show, where they lampooned Game of Thrones in its entirety.
SBS Managing Editor, Comedy Neal Downward said: “Our first videos made exclusively for SBS Comedy use emerging Australian comedians and focuses on what we’re all thinking about right now. Game of Thrones. Seriously, did you get a load of the new season trailer? This season is going to be off the chai… anyway the videos are very funny and you should watch them.”
SBS Comedy was launched in March and features a variety of comedy content and serves as a launching ground for new Australian comedy and comics alike. It includes a mix of articles, comedy show info, reviews and videos, including comedy short commissioned specifically for the site. SBS Comedy also curates some of the best comedy content from around the world.
