SA Premier Mike Rann on Adelaide’s new home of film

Adelaide Studios has been announced as South Australia's new state of the art film and screen centre.

The new $43 million studios are located five minutes from the CBD and will be the new home for the South Australian Film Corporation, as well as local production companies and screen practitioners.

“A new era in South Australian screen production is about to begin," SA Premier Mike Rann said in a statement.

“We’re confident Adelaide Studios will become a key destination for the local, national and international film and television industry.

“The studios will add tremendously to studio offerings around Australia and ensure South Australia remains a national leader in independent film production and post production.

“Film and screen content will be able to be conceived, developed and realised from one fully-equipped location when these new studios open next year.”

The studios have been designed specifically to offer an alternative to the larger facilities in the eastern states that are targeted at attracting large-scale offshore production.

Adelaide Studios will open in mid-2011.
