ScreenWest appoints production operations manager

ScreenWest welcomes Vikki Barr into the newly created position of Production Operations Manager. Vikki will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Production Funding programs. She will be also the key contact for production companies regarding WA crewing, and will provide support to WA attachments and practitioners.

Vikki’s responsibility includes managing the analysis of production submissions for the General Production, Matched Prime Time and West Coast Visions programs; and monitoring and reviewing project deliverables, and project expenditure.

Vikki brings to the position an extensive and successful career in the film and television industry, having attained a thorough and realistic working knowledge of all facets of the production process, both behind the scenes and on the front line.

After obtaining a diploma in Magazine Journalism, Vikki began her career in the film and TV industry at the ABC, and over an 11 year period worked in all television production categories: in studio, OB’s, on set, production management, accounting and programming.

On leaving the ABC to freelance, Vikki acted as Mentor, Supervising Producer and Lecturer for film and television students at various TAFES.

She worked for a number of years as a 1st Assistant Director and then moved to South Australia where she firsted McLeod’s Daughter for three series. She then moved into producing, where over five series she progressed from Associate Producer to Line Producer, to Co Producer and then to Producer. Her four month stint ended up being seven years!

When McLeod’s finished, Vikki returned home to Perth, which, is where she would like to stay. She has been 1st assistant directing for the last 18 months and has now decided it is time for a new challenge – and ScreenWest it is!

The creation of the Production Operations Manager position is an outcome of the funding review.

ScreenWest will also farewell the current Producer Associate, D’arcy Hodgkinson, when his contract finishes on February 15. ScreenWest would like to acknowledge D’arcy’s fantastic contribution over the past 12 months, and looks forward to continue to work with him ‘on the other side of the fence’.
