The original TRANSFORMERS film was a box office smash hit in 2007, taking over US$700 million worldwide, and having opened across the world the sequel achieved the fourth highest all-time international weekend gross with a phenomenal US$162 million from 9,119 locations worldwide.

The film was number one in all 60 territories in which it opened. Releasing a week earlier in the United Kingdom and Japan, the international total has reached US$186.2 million which takes the worldwide total to US$387.4 million.

Paramount Pictures Australia Managing Director Mike Selwyn said “It is very exciting to be involved with a film that has brought such spectacular entertainment to the broadest possible Australian audience. We are already hearing about people going back for a second time and having just as much fun”.
