US rock band provides soundtrack to Crush

[Press Release by Shine Communications]

Nexus 6 Films has released a two minute trailer worldwide to promote its debut feature film Crush, which was shot entirely in Western Australia. The trailer includes the yet to be released song, Breakdown, by world-renowned rock band Seether.

The trailer can be viewed on the movie’s official website – www.crushthemovie.com

Seether is currently enjoying No.1 status on international charts with ‘Rise above This’, a track from its latest album, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces. The Breakdown track which has been selected to accompany the Crush trailer is taken from the same album.

According to Nexus 6 Films’ producer Deidre Kitcher, securing the publishing and master agreement rights to the Seether track is a huge coup for Crush.

“We wanted to find a song for the trailer that encapsulated the entire movie and after an exhaustive search we feel we’ve achieved that,” she said.

“Our film’s Co-Director, John Soto, spent months listening to hundreds of tracks supplied by our music licensing supervisor Kim Green, before discovering Breakdown.

“After finding the track he then had to convince the band’s management and record label to allow us to use the song.

“John worked with Marty Pepper from Oasis Post Production to cut the trailer which the management company as well as the record label loved and so we got the thumbs up,” she added.

Western Australian Screenwriter and Director John V. Soto explains that the aim was to work with a U.S band to gain greater international exposure for the film and reflect the fact that Crush is a teen-centric film with an ultra cool soundtrack featuring Silverchair, The Sleepy Jackson, Shihad and Papa Roach.

“We couldn’t be happier with the trailer, we know that audiences across the globe are going to love it,” John said.

The brain child of John V. Soto, Crush tells the story of Julian Meadows – an American exchange student and disgraced Tae Kwon Do champion whose life is transformed into a living hell after being seduced by the mysterious yet beautiful, Anna.

The film stars Australian heartthrob and Hollywood rising star Chris Egan (Resident Evil: Extinction, Eragon, Virgin Territory); Californian-born beauty Brooke Harman (Ned Kelly, Till Human Voices Wake Us); AFI and Logie winning actress Emma Lung (Peaches, The Jammed); and fellow Aussie hunk Christian Clark (Prey – written by Crush director/writer John V. Soto, Gabriel, Gates of Hell).
